Our History
Tutor Extraordinaire grew out of J. Arnold’s long-standing work with students and families in Northeast Florida. J. is a homeschool graduate and University of North Florida alumnus with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and an emphasis in Mathematics and Physics. He has been tutoring and teaching in the region since 2002.
From the beginning, the work has been personal: helping students understand difficult material, rebuild confidence, and find joy in learning. Over the years, J. has taught for local homeschool co-ops including CrossPointe Co-op, Providence Extension Program, The VINE, Mandarin Christian Homeschoolers, and River City Homeschool Adventures.
As more families looked for patient, expert academic support, Tutor Extraordinaire expanded from one tutor’s teaching and test-prep work into a team of skilled tutors. Today, the team supports students in math, science, reading, writing, elementary subjects, and SAT/ACT/CLT preparation, with both in-person and virtual options.
The heart of the company has stayed the same: clear teaching, steady encouragement, and tutoring that meets each student where they are. Whether a student needs help catching up, wants to move ahead, or is preparing for an important exam, Tutor Extraordinaire is built to offer thoughtful support for the whole academic journey.
